A Note lets you add hints, explanations or open tasks directly to a flow’s canvas. It appears as a yellow sticky note and can be placed freely or associated with an operation or another note.
A note documents the flow. It does not process data or affect execution or the order of operations.
1. Creating a note
- In the graphical flow editor, drag Note from the toolbox on the left to the desired position on the canvas.
- Enter the Note text in the dialog. New notes can contain up to 500 characters, including line breaks. The character counter shows the current length.
- Click Save to create the note. Empty text or text containing only whitespace cannot be saved. Cancel closes the dialog without creating a note.
You can then move the note on the canvas using drag and drop.
2. Editing a note
Double-click the note or click its pencil icon to open the editing dialog. Change the text and click Save to apply it. Cancel discards the changes.
Existing notes longer than 500 characters are preserved. You can edit and shorten them, but cannot extend them beyond their length when the dialog was opened.
3. Associating a note
To show what a note refers to, drag one of its yellow handles onto an operation or another note. The association appears as a yellow speech bubble and adjusts when the elements are moved.
Each note can have one such association. A new association replaces the previous one. The association is a visual hint and does not carry data. Notes can also remain on the canvas without an association.
4. Deleting a note
Open the note by double-clicking it or using its pencil icon, then click Delete in the dialog. Its association is removed as well.
Creating, editing, associating and deleting notes requires permission to edit the flow.
